Sorry I haven't posted in a while! It's Pink Saturday time ~

I have been missing in action from blog land!  I'm so sorry I haven't posted in such a long time!  Last Saturday was my 23rd birthday, I went with a friend to see New Moon!  It did not disappoint!  I enjoyed myself and it was so nice to get out and have fun : )

It's been hectic around here, I haven't had time for any crafts, sewing, graphics, NOTHING!  I feel like I have no spare time these days, and sitting down to sew or whatever it may be just takes time away from keeping the house clean & tidy, preparing meals, never ending dishes, keeping the kids entertained, and the many many hats we women wear!  If time isn't the problem, it's money or some other reason.  Oh well, I am so grateful for the wonderful things in my life, I really wouldn't change a thing : )

I have a few pink things I'd love to show you for Pink Saturday, hosted by the lovely Beverly at How Sweet The Sound.

So a while ago I showed you this vintage mirror I purchased whilst out junking, and as promised it has been given the pink treatment!

A few people asked me what the paint colour is called, it is Cameo Pink, by either Dulux or British Paints (can't remember exactly).  I loooooove this shade.

I am very excited about this next pink image!  You see, every plant that has ever been in my care has somehow died, I have no idea how, I follow the instructions, but never the less they always cark it : (   I even managed to let a cactus plant die, which I didn't think was even possible.  I tried again this year, I planted a strawberry plant, it gaves us 2 strawberries then died.  I planted a tomato plant, but that night there was a frost which killed it : (  My china doll was flowering nicely, but the blooms now seem to be limp and turning brown.  I water them, I fertilise them, they are in full sun as per the instructions, I think I give up!
One of my plants has managed to survive, and I was delighted to look out the window this morning to find the bud had opened and revealed this pretty pink rose:

I am so hoping this one gives us lots of beautiful blooms!

Moving on..  I used some pretty fabric scraps to make this little hanging heart for a dear friend, it is the first thing I've sewn in months!  I really like how it turned out.

And lastly, here is my attempt at painting cottage roses!  Hmm, think I need LOTS of practice!

It's been fun blogging again, I will try not to leave it so long next time!  It is bed time now, we have lots of fun things happening tomorrow.  I am taking the kids to the Play School concert, and then our mosque is having a bbq, rides, jumping castle etc. for the kids so we will go along to that!

Happy Pink Saturday,

A fun, easy tutorial for Pink Saturday!

Hi girls, hope you are all having a wonderful weekend  : )  I've had a great one so far.  Went to the movies last night and saw Michael Moore's new film which was very eye opening, then spent the morning at the farmer's market and coffee at a good friend's place : )  I've also been doing some cleaning and making lots of fresh juices with my new juicer!  It's so lovely to be able to make juice & ice blocks with the kids, I am slowly phasing out all foods in our house that contain nasty additives & preservatives and choosing natural/homemade things in their place.

For Pink Saturday I have a fun, quick, easy tutorial I'd love to share with you : )  It is also a great way to use up fabric scraps.

Fabric Lollies/Candies

Firstly, gather your supplies.  For the wrapper, you'll need scraps of material, pinking shears, ribbon and a measuring tape or ruler.  You'll also need something for the 'lolly', I used craft pom pom thingys, you could also use cotton balls or even fabric scraps rolled into a ball.  Fabrics with low scale prints work best for this project : )

Next, cut 9cm x 9cm squares (approx. 3 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches), and pink 2 opposite edges with the pinking shears.

Place your craft ball at the edge of the 'wrapper' (not the pinked edge) and start rolling it up as shown below:

As you get to the end, fold the fabric 1/2cm of fabric over so that the raw edge won't show, and finish rolling it up.

Then, tie your ribbon on each end of the fabric ball.

And you're done!

They are so cute, and look great displayed on a pretty vintage plate....

...... or in a sweet little jar.....

Happy Pink Saturday, thanks for reading : )

Belated Pink Saturday!

Happy Pink Saturday!
We are having a beautiful, sunny weekend.  I went junkin' yesterday, I found an old mirror which I am in the process of painting and stuff, so I'll show you that tomorrow hopefully : )

For this week's PS I took a few snaps of pink things that happened to be out at the time, here they are ~

My pink recipe folder, full of my favourite delicious recipes!  I made yummy strawberry friands for a girls only dinner at mum's place.

My pink juicer.  Gosh I am really starting to realise how much Robert Gordon stuff I have in my home!!

Fresh strawberries, for the friands, and a couple for my tummy... hehe

My pink mobile

One of my fave shades of yummy pink paint!

Can you guess what colour I'm painting my new mirror? : )

Ok, we are off to enjoy this beautiful Sunday morning : )

A new painting, a giveaway & some exciting news!

I feel like I haven't blogged in ages, though I think it's only been 5 or 6 days..  : )  Shows how ADDICTED I am!  I have been busy working on something, but I'll tell you at the end of the post : )

Firstly, I just HAVE to show you my new Gail painting.  It is the 7th of her work to grace my home, and I have a feeling it won't be the last!

Here it is, a pretty trio with pink roses.  Pretty china is one of my biggest weaknesses, I thought it was all too appropriate to have this sweet painting (any excuse will do, really).

It is pictured here with one of my hand sewn lamp shades.

Now, I have to introduce you to a very talented chick and my mate IRL, Alysha.  Her business is called VI couture (vintage inspired couture), where she designs & makes modest vintage inspired fashion pieces.  Apart from fashion design, she is also a talented photographer, writer, artist, vintage lover, Japan fanatic and travelling enthusiast!

Her latest project is the Fascinate Me ™ collection.  It is a beautiful range of one of a kind, hand crafted mini fascinators to wear on our hijaabs (you know, the scarves us muslim gals wear to cover our hair).  Here are a few of the fascinators from her range:

Gosh they are lovely!!  They are available in her new Etsy store.   Guess what, she is also having a GIVEAWAY to celebrate!  It is over at her blog, please go check it out : ).

Lastly, I have to tell you why I've been soo busy lately!  I'm opening a website!  I'm so very excited : )  I'll be selling shabby cottage style web site templates, printable graphics and auction templates.  Here's a little sample of what you can expect to find : )

I don't have an opening date as of yet, but I will certainly keep you posted on my progress!  The site address is www.pinkandprettydesigns.com

Hope you're all having a beautiful day,

I started this lamp many many months ago, it's finally done!

I also made myself this sweet pillow!

This was fun, such a great idea!  Thanks Natasha, we should do this more often I think!  I'm off to check out everyone else's creations,

Pink Saturday!! ~ In my china hutch

Welcome to my second Pink Saturday post, today I am excited to show you some more of the pretty mismatched china I have been collecting! My little collection is slowly growing, I am so in love with each piece, they are all different yet so pretty.  I have so been enjoying hunting for these pretties, they all come to me from different places. I often wonder where they came from & where they lived before arriving to their new home on my cream china hutch.

This first one is my absolute favourite plate, my heart started beating a little faster when I saw it!  I love the sweet rose buds & pale green stripes.  It cost me a whole $1.50, but it is priceless to me!

A very sweet pink rosy plate I bought a while back, was planning to use it for mosaics but I think I will keep it on my china hutch : )

I fell in love with the pale green and gold gilt on this sweet plate

This is such a pretty little queen anne trio, the yellow in it makes it so special ~

LOVE these beautiful tea cups & the little rose bud plate in the background.  I travelled out to a little country town just outside the city last weekend.  I found these pretties in a collectibles cottage, they had such beautiful things and the little shop was just darling.  The owners were so lovely, I so love country people they are just so friendly!

I found these there as well, I could not resist the green in that little rosebud vase!  And the pink one, well it was just too perfect to pass up!

I found these next 2 at my favourite antique shop, they were super cheap & super pretty, I'm so happy to have found them : ) ~

Cupcake sign I made the other day

And lastly, the PRETTIEST PINK cake stand I've ever seen!

The colours are So perfect!  I've had this one for a few years now, I also have the matching sandwhich plate.

So I have a busy day ahead of me, I will have to love you & leave you now girls, hope you enjoyed this little tour of my china hutch : )

Happy Pink Saturday!  Kindly hosted by Beverly @ How Sweet The Sound (thanks Bev!),

Autism sidebar button

Hello my lovely blogging friends : )

The boys & I have had a quiet day indoors today, it is still MISERABLE outside : (  Can't wait til the sun comes out so we can go out and have some fun!  I think we are all going a little crazy being stuck in here lol.

So as some of you know, my eldest little man has been diagnosed with autism.  He is 3.5, and one of the happiest, brightest kids you'll ever see : )  He's an absolute blessing & a joy to be around (well, most of the time!).

I have made 2 little buttons for those of you who also have someone in your life with autism.  The "puzzle" is a well known symbol for autism awareness so I incorporated it into the button.  I have added mine to my side bar, I hope this is useful for someone out there : )

Just right click & "save" the button you need, then upload it into your sidebar in the "layout" section.
